Jeff Atwood on Remote Work
Great post about Why You’re Not Hiring the Best and the Brightest
We pay lip service to the idea of hiring the best people in the world — but in reality, we’re only hiring the best people who happen to be close by.
I really would like to see some companies welcome the remote work. I really would love to move to some dreamed city, but the truth it's that it's hard to change your life. And, at least in our industry, there aren't a lot of reasons to work in an office.
do you think it will continue be done by people spending one or two hours commuting to and from an office building every day?
That's one of the main aspects of the works that I hate. I don't like losing my time in traveling. It's much better when I can wake up and start working even before the clock starts playing the infamous song.
